Jidike Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Kuqa Depression, NW Tarim The type section is located at the south wing of the Jidike anticline (E83°29′, N42°07′), Kuche City, northern Tarim Basin in Xinjiang. It was formally named by the Regional Stratigraphic Chart Editorial Group of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (RSCEGXUAR) (1981).
Synonym: Gao et al. (2014a) treated the Qiulitake Gr and the Yanshuigou Fm named by the RSCEGXUAR (1981) as synonyms of the Jidike Fm.
Lithology and Thickness
The Jidike Fm is characterized by a series of brownish-red sandy mudstones and mudstones, interbedded with red and greyish-green siltstones, mudstone bands, and gypsum laminations. In general, its weathered colors are red and green. It contains fossil ostracods and freshwater fishes, which are deposited in the lacustrine deposits. Its thickness is in range of 270~1000 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
In the type section, the Jidike Fm conformably contacts with the underlying Oligocene Suweiyi Fm.
Upper contact
In the type section, the Jidike Fm conformably underlies the Miocene Kangcun Fm.
Regional extent
The formation is distributed to the region ranging from Kuche to Rouqiang, northwest and south of the Tarim Basin.
